About Hangman Phrases
This site does one narrow thing: phrases and sentences for playing hangman, sorted by how people actually search for them. Funny for game night, hard for rivals, easy for classrooms, seasonal for the weeks that ask for it. At the moment it holds 426 phrases across 8 lists, and it grows deliberately rather than quickly.
The rules every list follows
- Original. Every phrase and every sentence of prose is written for this site. Nothing is scraped or mirrored from anywhere else, even where topics overlap, because they inevitably do in a game this old.
- Play-checked. Each phrase is checked letter by letter: where the common letters fall, where the surprises sit, and whether the difficulty comes from fair spelling economy or from unfair obscurity. The notes on each page showing why a phrase defeats people come from that checking.
- Family-safe throughout. The audience includes classrooms, so even the pages aimed at adults get their edge from wit and register, never from anything crude.
Who is behind it
Hangman Phrases is written and published by Zaher Khan, an independent developer and publisher who runs a small collection of focused utility and reference sites. This one exists because the hangman niche had good word lists and almost nothing serious about phrases, which are how most people actually play.
Corrections and suggestions
If a phrase is misspelled, plays worse than described, or you know a category the site should cover, the contact page reaches a person who reads everything. Corrections are genuinely welcome; the lists are meant to be reliable enough to teach from.
